Yorleny Clapper – Originally from Costa Rica, Yorleny lived in the vibrant city of Austin, Texas but has come to feel at home in the “Gorgeous Northwest,” as she calls it. She contributes to the preservation of the region’s beauty by serving in the Lakewold Garden Board of Directors and with their youth program, beginning in July 2016. Yorleny also volunteers with the Water Quality Monitoring Program of the Pierce Conservation District.
Yorleny has a deep love for teaching and writing and is committed to the World Language Connection’s values of increasing and improving communication among different people, cultures, and countries. In addition to her work as a Program Coordinator with the World Language & Culture Ambassadors program, Yorleny is also a passionate teacher of Spanish.
Yorleny holds a degree in Political Science and an MBA in Marketing, a profession she pursued successfully for many years.
Emily Bayer – Born and raised in Washington, Emily describes herself as somebody who enjoys working with words. She expanded her love for language after taking her first course in Linguistics at Western Washington University. Three years later, Emily graduated with her Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, as well as minors in English and French.
Emily feels very lucky to be part of the World Language Connection team and to help in their mission of spreading language education and cultural awareness. When she isn’t working, she can be found scribbling in a notebook, searching for new music to listen to, or getting lost in a bookstore.
